May is Hearing, Skin and Arthritis Month

What do skin, arthritis and hearing have to do with each other? Nights Out at the Medical Center!

These three topics were discussed at the Medical Center’s popular Nights Out series – with Audiologist Elizabeth Herrera, Dermatologist Jeremy Green and Cleveland Clinic’s Rheumatologist John Donohue. If you missed these popular talks, you’ll have more opportunities next season for Nights Out and our ever-popular Medical Lecture Series.

National Health Month topics are handy reminders to take care of specific health areas we may be neglecting. Annual dermatology skin checks are important, as are hearing checkups and yearly tune-ups of hearing appliances. And audiology technology is seeing rapid improvements with less conspicuous hearing aids that have better clarity.

The Medical Center's Visiting Specialist program features Audiologist Elizabeth Herrera and four dermatologists. Check out the Visiting Specialists page for details.

Those little joint aches and pains may be signaling early stages of arthritis. It's a common problem during the aging process and it’s always prudent to have your symptoms checked by your healthcare provider.

Whatever your plans for the month of May, be sure to include some time for healthy checkups with our specialists. If you haven’t had a routine yearly exam, there’s still time before you leave Ocean Reef for the season. Call the Medical Center at 305-367-2600 to schedule an appointment with your primary provider.

Traveling out of the country this summer? Don’t forget to check with your health care provider for inoculation advice. Remember to make copies of the medications you take and arrange for prescriptions to be renewed prior to leaving the country.
